Kontula is a competition entry for the Habitare Design Competition 2011, which theme was to re-design a traditional Finnish outdoor toilet. It’s a collaboration with Seppo Riiho.
Kontula’s speciality is that it changes it’s character during the daylight changes. Effect is made with an asymmetrical outer grid wall, which enlightens the whole interior during the finnish nightless nights giving also a good shelter from the outsiders. Space is made with using 2″ 5″ asp plank modules. Roof is covered with tin plate and the rainwater is leaded to the window side to protect the wood.
